Snapshots
A snapshot is an immutable preserved copy of one particular state of the continuously maintained Iran Monitor database. Each snapshot has a permanent identifier and a permanent download URL, and its file is never edited or replaced. Snapshots carry no DOI. Numbered scholarly releases are separate immutable published versions with their own version DOIs.
The live database may contain approved changes made after the latest preserved snapshot. For frozen scholarly versions, see Releases.

Reproducibility
- Snapshot identifiers use the form
IM-S-YYYY-MM-DD-NN, and each file is permanently available at/snapshots/<ID>.xlsx. - Snapshot files and their register entries are immutable and create-only.
- Each snapshot records a SHA-256 checksum of its file for verification.
- Routine snapshots carry no DOI.
- Numbered scholarly releases are a distinct concept and remain documented, with their version DOIs, under Releases.
/api/export/current.xlsxresolves to the latest preserved snapshot rather than generating a file on demand.
