Snapshots
A snapshot is an immutable preserved Excel export of the continuously maintained Iran Monitor database at one point in time. Each snapshot has a permanent identifier and a permanent download URL, its file is never edited or replaced, and routine snapshots carry no DOI.

Reproducibility
- Snapshot identifiers use the form
IM-S-YYYY-MM-DD-NN, and each file is permanently available at/snapshots/<ID>.xlsx. - Snapshot files and their register entries are immutable and create-only.
- Each snapshot records a SHA-256 checksum of its file for verification.
- Routine snapshots carry no DOI.
- A snapshot records the maintained database as it then stood, so it may contain current public fields that are not part of an earlier frozen release. The public Age at death field is included from 31 August 2026; birth dates and birth-data sources are not exported.
- Numbered releases are a distinct concept and remain documented, with their version DOIs, under Releases.
/api/export/current.xlsxresolves to the latest preserved snapshot rather than generating a file on demand.
